1. Why did DICE decide to make a game like this? It was a very deliberate decision. We wanted to create a new IP that was very different from Battlefield and would appeal to a slightly different audience whilst still building on our strengths in 1st person. When we looked at the market we realized that although there were a lot of first person games out there, most of them were focusing on the gun and not the person. So we decided to do a game that was about the person not the weapon. 2. What is the main focus of the game, storyline & character wise? Well, this is very much Faith’s story so lets talk about her. She is not a typical video game heroine. She does not have superpowers or magic or even carry a weapon of her own. She is an “ordinary” person put into extraordinary circumstances - and it is how she reacts to that situation that makes her a hero. In the same way Ellen Ripley was just a Warrant Officer on a mining ship in Alien or John McClane was “just” a cop in Die Hard (at least the first one). Faith does not ask for this or seek it – but she does not back down when her family and her life is threatened 3. The controls are certainly very unique. What can you tell us about this? We have tried to keep them as simple and intuitive as possible. They should be very familiar to first person players out there. We want people to be able to pick this game up quickly. The basic movement should be easy – the skill comes in stringing moves together – especially when under fire or in a combat situation. What is unique is what the controls allow you to do. The feeling of weight in the body, the freedom of movement, the sense of speed – all this in first person is what makes the game feel different. 4. How much focus will the concept of free roaming have? Do we get to run around wherever we want on the rooftops or are we somehow restricted to specific levels? There seems to be some confusion about this - this is not a free-roaming game – and I think it is a better game for that. We have a story-driven action game and we want you to experience the story. There are however multiple ways of tackling every level whether it is the routes you take or the combat style you adopt. Also the type of movement we have in the game turns almost any area into a mini-sandbox. You will not feel restricted in the game. 5. What can you tell us about the weaponry? The focus is on physical action not weapons. So if you think of Jason Bourne or on the opening fight scene in Casino Royale. It’s about up close and personal, visceral combat. That does not mean you can’t use guns in the game if you want – there are actually around 15 weapons in the game you can use – you just have to take them off an opponent first. There are also limitations, you only have the bullets that are in the clip and your movement with a weapon is restricted. So you sacrifice speed and agility for short term firepower – it all depends how you want to play the game. 6. We all know about the game heroine Faith. Will there be other playable characters? No this is Faith’s story so she is the only playable character. This game is about feeling you are Faith - you are there seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels. Every punch, every fall, every bullet impact brings you closer to her. I know it sounds counter-intuitive but the fact that you are in first person makes you identify with her more than if it was in third person. It is the difference between watching an action movie and actually being in it. 7. Will the game include multiplayer? (what game modes?) Our focus has been and continues to be on creating a great single player experience. There is another game mode but we are not talking about that just yet. 8. Will it be possible for the players to create their own maps/content/mods? Again this is something we are not discussing yet 9. Is there any estimated release date? We have not announced a release date but will soon J 10. Are all the versions (PC/Console)of the game releasing at the same time? Yes it will be launched simultaneously on PS3, X360 and PC.
