Hey ya all! ![]()
My English is weak, so I'll try keep this short as possible.
I was pretty excited when I heard someone figured out how to get editor in Mirror's Edge, so I after few months I noticed there is almost no others peoples custom maps at all. I was pretty disappointed and tried to figure the cause of this, but I never found the answer I was looking.

:::[FAQ]:::
What's up with the name?
Windrunner is the new futuristic Ninja Warrior style competition.
What's up with the design?
Building entire city just takes too much time, so I chose the simple way.
What happens if I fall?
You'll respawn at the start of the map.
:::[Question to Mirror's Edge Modding Community]:::
Where is all custom maps? There's only few I've seen.
Does Retail version really have 15 second death thingy in custom maps?
@Blizzard Are you gonna update your website? It would be great if it had every custom maps people have made for Mirror's Edge.
http://touchofrain.com/mirrors_edge/index.html (Best tutorials!)
I hope you enjoy my little custom map.

Mirror's Edge Editor is the best in my opinion. It's pretty much crash free compared other Unreal Engine games like Gears of War or Unreal Tournament 3.

First of all: Welcome to the Mirror's Edge Modding. I saw you wrote some posts before but now is a good opportunity to welcome you.
It's nice there is someone interested in bringing new maps here. Which leads me to your question: The problem we have is that there are not enough people here, and most people who are here are occupied with other things and just lack the time for mapping (at least that's what I get from their posts).
However, your map really brings some new design to our map-lineup. I really like it from what I've seen on your screens. I will try it when I get back home today.

Well it's holiday, so I spent my days working with this map. I might expand this map and add more features later, since Kismet tool is very easy to use.

Hey, Glasses, I just wanted to say the screenshots looked great and unique, especially for the first map you posted! I've been on Christmas vacation in the USA so I haven't been checking the forums or posting much. I know the community is unfortunately rather small, but I will try to mention your map on another forum I frequent, just in case anyone is interested.
Good luck in your future modding endeavors, on this game or another!

Let's first concentrate on what we can play:
Windrunner
Visuals: The glass-and-steelframe theme really fits to the tricks the player is supposed to pull of and the props are nice eyecandy, only getting a bit in the way once (after the long fall the couch is a bit too close to where you climb up; but nonetheless it's possible to get past it). Having different colors in your sections is good way to give orientation, so all in all great visuals.
Sound: OK, basic skill map, no fancy music necessary, other sounds obstructing, passed.
Gameplay: Yeah, about that: Some passages just cut the flow. First right after the beginning when taking the springboard: You barely land on thenext floor which forces a stop. Next after those swing-poles: While it is a nice idea with them the last jump always leaves me hanging on the side of the next floor. Right next the wall to climb cannot be done in one take, you always have to hit space twice. Well, after that point I don't remember any flow-cutting elements, but one design flaw has to be reported: The swinging pole after that walking ledge is misplaced, I always hammer on the space bar not to miss the one spot where you can jump.
Others: The teleport in itself is a good idea, but either simulate checkpoints or read on how to work with those provided, because the system with a single teleport to the start is very unforgiving when it comes to small missteps. To be honest, I only got through the map once, and that was also the only time I made it to the red section.
Well, now that all is said and done, my conclusion: Definitely got the ME feeling to it, even with those flaws. And for a beginner's map a fine piece of work.

Thanks all!
@Noone
I never done Puzzle maps before and it was kinda challenging, and I also created this map in 2 days. It's a bit rushed, but I'll try to be more careful with next map.

I hope your next map isnt your last. I know you have potential

I could update my website some more...I've been on holiday, and not really doing any Mirror's Edge mod work. Sorry about the slowdown. Currently I'm working on a couple of C++/Java programming projects. If you have any requests let me know or send me an email and I'll try to get to them EVENTUALLY! :-P

How can I start the map? Which lvl do I have to choose. I just canīt find it. I added the script to the .ini file, and so on. However it just doesnīt load the map. Do I have to install the DLC in order t paly this?
EDIT: Sry guys. i got it sorted out. it was all my fault. Great map. Iīm looking forward to your next map. You have to make another map. It was so much fun too play through all those little challenges. Got i completed within 1 hour. It isnīt so hard at all. At first I got stuck at the green part. After I left the green part behind one time I was able to comlete the rest of the lvl. without dieing. It would be a great idea if Dice would make a new DLC where they put togehter all the good custom maps like this.

Sorry, but I've got the same problem. Don't know what I did wrong. Could you tell me please?

You have to do exactly as glasses (the author) said. Then you have to load a map (it doesnīt matter which). If you put the command into the .ini the map should start by pressing F1. THe map needs to be in a file called windrunner. If you put it in an sp00, 01 or whatever it wonīt load.

Yay he's back! Moar screens for the win!
By the way, are the glass and frame/chassis/glassholder in your map only solids?
Also, I would like it really much if you would explain how you made the teleporting!
We need more guys in the community project... ![]()

Static Meshes with two different materials. One of them are glass and the other material is the color one.
Berthenk wrote:

I created TriggerVolume and used Kismet tool to make teleport. It's hard to explain, but I recommend you open my map and see what I did, since my map is not cooked.

I won't be working 12 hours straight as I did with Windrunner. I'll be working with my map for 1 - 2 hours a day, so don't expect it coming any time soon.
